Domestic Violence Team
In February of 2003, the Utica Police Department along with the YWCA of the Mohawk Valley began a collaborative effort with the formation of the Domestic Violence Team. The goal of the Domestic Violence Team is to effectively reduce the occurrence of domestic violence by increasing reporting and by identifying and tracking repeat victims and/or offenders. The Domestic Violence Team also seeks to increase victims’ access to supportive services by encouraging victims to report their abuse, thereby increasing arrest rates for domestic offenders.
